We are all prone to snacking! Especially on the weekends when we have time on hand, we tend to open up jars of snacks and indulge in a handful even without realising the amount of snack we have consumed. Snacking typically refers to eating small bites in between meals. It is unfortunate that snacking often refers to high calorific food like chips, cookies etc. What if snacks don’t just satisfy your hunger and satiate your taste buds but also give you nutrition?
One such snack I often make for my family is crispy edamame. Now as you all might know, edamame are immature soybeans in a pod, just like green peas. They are either eaten as whole pods or you can string them to take the beans out. The beans can be boiled or steamed or even baked. They obviously come with a lot of health benefits, they are high in proteins, low in carbs, rich in vitamins and minerals.
Here is how you make it :
Ingredients :
- Edamame – 1 cup
- Parmesan cheese – 1/3 cup
- Mixed herbs – 1/2 tbsp
- Pepper – 1tsp
- Chilli Flakes – 1/2 tsp
- Olive oil – 1 tbsp
Method
- Pat edamame beans dry with a kitchen towel.
- Drizzle oil over it and add all the ingredients. Toss to coat all the beans.
- Place the mixture on a baking tray and bake at 200 degrees Celsius for 15 min or till done.
Please note that the mixed herbs mentioned above had salt in them and hence I haven’t added salt separately. In case the salt is missing you can add it as per taste. Making this snack is that simple. It is healthy to munch on while watching a movie or just in between your meals. Its a good accompaniment with the drinks as well. So up your healthiness quotient by baking these edamame beans.
Happy and healthy snacking !!!
